Gradual Steps Towards Independence
Veteran Hands Farm & Ranch is building a 13‑facility rural veterans campus in Whitewright, Texas, designed to restore housing, health, and purpose for those who served and their neighbors. On 52 acres, our campus will combine a 50‑unit Veterans Home, an Education & Training Center, and integrated food and farm systems to serve veterans, seniors, and low‑income rural residents.
Our vision is simple and bold:
-
Provide safe, dignified housing for homeless and at‑risk veterans and vulnerable seniors.
-
Offer workforce training and transitional employment through ranch, aquaponics, dining, and maintenance operations.
-
Deliver accessible rural healthcare, counseling, and equine‑assisted services that support long‑term recovery.
-
Build a self‑sustaining, community‑anchored campus that strengthens the entire region.
Phase 1 focuses on essential community facilities: the 50‑unit Veterans Home, a 2,500 sq ft Education & Training Center, land acquisition, and shared campus infrastructure. Future phases will add assisted living, a rural medical clinic, equine therapy stable, aquaponics farm, campus diner, farmers market, RV park, and other support enterprises as funding allows.
Our Vision
Safe Shelter
The Ranch Bunk House will have 50 efficiency apartments with a bed, dresser, chair, table, shower toilet and small kitchenette. All in a 18’ X 20’ room. Each with a locking door! Imagine being able to lock yourself and your belongings up and sleep safely for the first time in a long time.
Nourishing Food
Build a small diner to feed both the resident veterans and the general public. This will create jobs for the veterans as well as a source of revenue for the ranch. The menu can be created around the produce and livestock raised on the farm from eggs and milk to rabbits and beef.
Medical Care
Assist the Veterans in getting to and from the VA or Doctors that have agreed to assist us in getting medical needs met.
Empowering Employment
The Veterans that are on the ranch are working and getting paid for their valuable skills they have and trained for any position where they have an interest.
Clothing/Laundry Services
Each arriving veteran will receive a Starter Pack of clothing and toiletries. The laundromat will be open to the public and serve as revenue for the ranch.
Equine/Aviation Therapy
Ask us about therapy that will be available on the ranch.
